ID Analytics Wins in INFORMS Data Mining Contest

Team Awarded Second Place in Both Tasks for Predictive Modeling in Healthcare

SAN DIEGO, CA– ID Analytics, Inc., the leader in on-demand identity intelligence, announced today that the company’s team placed second in the 2009 INFORMS Data Mining Contest. More than 25 teams competed in the prestigious analytics contest that required completion of two separate tasks. ID Analytics’ team was awarded second place in both tasks.

The second annual contest was co-organized on behalf of INFORMS by the Predictive Modeling Group at IBM Research and Health Care Intelligence (HCI-LLC). This year’s focus is on predictive problems for health care quality. The first task was to model a patient transfer guideline for patients with severe medical conditions from a community hospital setting to tertiary hospital provider. The second task was to assess the severity or risk of death based on a patient’s condition.

Led by principal scientist Dr. Jianjun Xie, ID Analytics’ team placed second in the first task of identifying transfers to tertiary hospitals, as well as second place in the second task of predicting probability of patient mortality. The awards were presented to ID Analytics in a ceremony on October 10, 2009 at the INFORMS Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA. Xie also gave a presentation on the team’s modeling methods, predictions and results during the Annual Meeting.
